MAN MADE
World's Smallest One-Person Helicopter
GEN H-4, a compact single-seater helicopter.
Conventional use jet packs might still be an unrealised promise but miniature backpack helicopters on the other hand, might be closer than we think.
Seventy-five-year-old Gennai Yanagisawa, who runs an electronics equipment company in Matsumoto, central Japan, has created a 75-kilogram one-man aircraft, which sets the world record for the smallest helicopter - with a rotor length of 3.9 metres. Powered by four twin cylinder engines, the helicopter can remain in the air even if two of the engines stop working.
At a cost of US$57,140, seven have so far been sold.
