So where is the gear now?
It is with my old flatmate and I hope that she hasn’t thrown it out.
You have just been involved in the two big movies coming out Sione’s Wedding and River Queen. Yeah blink and you’ll miss me.
But you are there. I love telling people that I have two movies coming out.

So what for the future?
At the beginning of last year I went over to LA and met with some agents. Actually Temuera Morrison put me on to them, good fella. They have quite a few Kiwis on their books, like they have Cliff and I think they had Keshia. They were keen so I want to go over again because I am getting too old.

How old are you now?
27.

Is that too old?
Yeah. Like when I saw Tem on River Queen, he was like, (she does a very good Tem impression at this point) “you got to get over there now girl. How old are you now?” 26. “You got to get over there now.” Every year they get younger.
You’ll drop a few years off your age once you get over there. I don’t want to be someone who does that.

This response doesn’t surprise me. Shavaughn doesn’t strike me as the kind of person who would lie about her age or be anything but genuine on her way to the top.
We move into my favorite stock questions - the questions from inside the actors’ studio.

What is your favourite word? Good.
What is your least favourite word? Any shortening of a word like pressies or chrissie or brekkie I can’t stand.
What turns you on creatively, emotionally, or spiritually? Funny people.
What turns you off? Arrogance.
What is your favourite curse word? The F word for sure.
What sound or noise do you love? My 10 month old nephew when he laughs and gets that crazy thing where his eyes glaze over because he is laughing so hard.
What sound or noise do you hate? Gosh, my own voice, which isn’t ideal when you work in media.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Crime scene investigator.
What wouldn’t you like to attempt? Any profession that you have to buy clothes that you only ever wear to work – like a uniform – because I have never had to do that.
And if heaven exists what would you like God to say when you arrive? Yes, you are on the list and go
right through.
