Foods To Eat Before You Work-Out

Not only are you losing muscle by exercising hungry, but since you have no fuel to work out, you won't have the energy to exercise as long or as intensely as you would if you had eaten.

This translates to less overall calories burned. In another study, women...

I’m sorry, but the way I’ve always remembered Shavaughn is as that goofy girl from What Now?, so nothing has prepared me for the vision who is now sitting in my very hot, very tiny office.

She is stunning. The kind of beauty that makes it hard to breathe. A friend of mine told me that he was once in a room with Catherine Zeta Jones before she became famous and he said you just knew there was something other-worldly about her. Now Shavaughn isn’t a transcendent beauty but there’s something about her that makes you sit up and pay attention. And I think it’s because she’s so funny, she is one of the most down-to-earth people you could hope to meet. She’s not one of these no-talent wannabe divas you meet so often in Auckland’s many stainless steel neon playgrounds. No, this girl is the real deal. Maybe it’s got something to do with where she started out...

I heard you were born in Hawera?
Yes, I was born there but my family was in Opunake. So I lived there until I was 8 years old and then we moved to the big smoke.

Where was the big smoke?
New Plymouth. I have to say that that place is stepping up in the world.

Have you been there lately?
Nakiwood. Well, that, and also they have got the walkway on the seafront and it is really beautiful, and they have got a new museum. Every time I go home, which is about twice a year, there do seem to be new cafes and stuff popping out. So I think it is finding its feet.

So obviously you have got family there?
Mum and Dad and no one else.

So when did you decide that this was a profession that you wanted to pursue?
I remember being interested every time a play came around at school. I went to an all-girls school and one year I played Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol when I was 12. We didn’t even have drama at my school, it wasn’t a subject you could take, but I think I was always interested in it, and I think I was a bit of a class clown with one of my best friends. I think I fell into it. I came to Auckland for university, doing a BA – Bugger All – and kind of got signed up by a talent agency.
