The Ferrari FF may be able to boast 683 Nm of torque from its all-new V12 engine, but this rather pails compared to the 210,000 Nm offered by its stand mate at the 2011 Paris Show and the Ferrari California’s 485 Nm is a little surpassed by the nearly 400,000 Nm delivered by its display partner at the Paris Show.
The disparity in output is because this is not the Paris International Motor Show – that isn’t until 2012 – it is because this is the Paris International Air Show, and Ferrari has partnered with Boeing. The Ferrari FF is sharing a display with the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the California is lined up with the all-new Boeing 747-8, the latest addition to the 747 family.
Other than high performance and advanced technology, the Boeing 747-8 and California have another link – the use of advanced environmental technology, with the 747-8 reaching Paris by becoming the first large commercial plane to cross the Atlantic on biofuel and the California demonstrating its C02-reducing HELE technology.
Ferrari has chosen to display its products at the 2011 Paris International Air Show because of the remarkable attendance at the show. As well as 340,000 members of the public, the show attracts 200 international delegations, 3000 journalists, 138,000 business and trade visitors and 4,800 business to business meetings are held at the show. The show will also be home to largest display of business jets and personal aircraft in 2011. The event therefore represents a unique opportunity to place Ferrari in front of potential clients from around the world and in an environment suffused with technology and high performance.
