New World Record for 100 Metres
Like a bolt out of the blue, Jamaican runner, Usain Bolt has recorded the fastest 100m time in history, with his world record time of 9.72 at the Reebok Grand Prix.
Bolt, a recordholder in the 200 metres, now plans to contest the 100 and 200 in Beijing, Prior to his record breaking run he and coach Glen Mills weren't sure of his Olympic plans.
"Running one fast race is not the same as competing in the Olympics. He has to run (four) rounds. He doesn't have the experience in the 100.We've been working the three previous years for the 200. Running the 100 could jeopardize the 200. A lot of things come into play." Mills warned.
Experience aside Bolt is now the world’s fastest 100 metre sprinter.
