Did you grow up conscious of being very pretty?
Well, my mum is very girly and so I would always have the newest
nail polish. My mum did my nails and my hair and she went to beauty school and so I had that influence, mixed with my dad telling me that I couldn’t throw a ball like a girl and that I needed to be tough. He said, “Don’t cry unless you are really hurt.” I think it helped that dad made me tough. I’m probably more strong-willed and confident because of him. I’m pretty opinionated, which gets me into trouble sometimes (laughs). Yeah, the way I approach things is more gung-ho than passive. So I had a nice combination of masculine and feminine influences as a kid.

What is it like having magazines everywhere voting you the sexiest woman in the world? You consistently top the polls in men’s magazines.
I don’t want to sound horrifically arrogant. I don’t know how you can ever answer that question the right way other than saying, “Thank you.” It is flattering.

What are you dreams and goals?
I want to make every kind of movie. I have already done comedy and drama and a horror film. It really depends on great scripts and interesting stories and characters. I don’t mind if I do small,
independent films or big studio movies as long as the script is good. I would love to do another Fantastic Four sequel, of course. And I am hoping to produce films. I admire Tom Cruise and Will Smith because they know how to open a movie worldwide. I also want to make a difference in the world in the field of education. I think it is important for children to have a challenging, stimulating curriculum instead of studying out of 20-year-old text books. And we need smaller class sizes (in the United States) so I am hoping to get involved in campaigns and charity work in that field. And at some point, I would like a family – but not yet.
