Jessica Alba: Fantastic

Jessica Alba talks about here franchise film 'The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' which is currently out on DVD.

What does your character, Sue Storm, go through in this film?
She is planning her wedding; she’s dealing with the fact that she is going to be living in a fishbowl for the rest of her life, being in the public eye as a member of the Fantastic Four. She is wondering whether that is something she wants to do. She is getting anxious to start a family, to become a wife and be more domestic, to have a home life. She feels like the pressure to be a celebrity mixed with being a superhero may not be something that she really wants out of life. It was certainly never anything that Sue planned, so she is dealing with this dilemma the whole time. Then of course, the Fantastic Four find out that the world is coming to end and they need to save it because there is no one else to do the job apart from them.

Do you have to face something similar in your own life, dealing with fame, because of the job you do?
Well, it is different because I chose to be in the spotlight, to be an actress in the entertainment business so I can’t really complain. Sue, my character didn’t choose to be a celebrity.

How much more complex and interesting is your character this time?
She was always angry and misunderstood in the first film. Nobody listened to her or really paid attention to her. She was always bickering at Johnny and Reed. In this film, she is much more human and much softer with greater depth. She is more vulnerable.
I am sure that a film like this requires stamina.
