Farewell Farrah Fawcett

After battling with cancer since her diagnosis in 2006, Farrah Fawcett passed away last night at the age of 62. Best known for her role in Charlies Angels, Fawcett was one of the most recognised sex symbols of the '70s. A smiling Fawcett in the red swimsuit poster that shot her to fame, perfectly captures the vivacious personality that was a key to her appeal.

While Fawcett’s early career cashed in on her sex appeal, she went on to grittier roles starring as a battered wife in 1984's The Burning Bed. More recently Farrah bravely gave insight into her battle with cancer in a self made documentary; this chronicle of her final months recently aired in the U.S.

Despite the hard battle with cancer over recent years her longtime partner, actor Ryan O'Neal, wants to focus on the positive side of her life.  "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."

On that note, here's a youthful, smiling Fawcett in the opening of the first episode of Charlies Angels.
