Unparalleled in performance the 787 Dreamliner achieves a standard of technology that makes competition inconsequential.
The standard 787-8 Dreamliner can carry between 210-250 passengers up to 15,200 km. Whereas the third aircraft in the triumvirate can do 290-330 passengers up to 5,650 km. As boasted by Boeing fuel efficiency with the 787 is unrivalled, using an impressive 20% less than comparable sized aircraft on similar travel missions.
For the passengers, Boeing's 2 year study resolved that increased air purification will help you feel better after a long flight which means an improvement in overall cabin comfort. Cabin pressure will be kept at a high level. Boeing confirms this will leave passengers less tired after a flight. New LED lights offer many quirky possibilies. During boarding, the cabin lights can show an airlines’ corporate colours.
At takeoff, a change to smooth, comforting colours. Warm white light similar to a candlelight dinner could be used during meal times and appreciating either spectrum of the day or night can help passengers acclimatise to the time zones they're flying into.
Since the aircraft went on sale in 2003, 55 customers from 6 continents have placed orders for 840 planes. A total value of around $140 billion. Needless to say Boeing are well pleased with that launch result.
