COCKTAIL: Sazerac
The Sazerac has always been a greeting to first-time visitors to the State of Louisiana as well as a familiar companion to lifetime residents. The Sazerac is history in a glass.
The Sazerac has recently been named the official cocktail of New Orleans.
Part One
In a rocks/tumbler glass add 30 ml Pernod.
Top with chilled water and ice then leave to ‘work’.
In an ice filled shaker add:
30 ml Wild Turkey Rye
1 shot Martell Cognac
15 ml sugar syrup
3 dashes Angostura bitters or Peychauds, if available.
Discard the contents of the glass (Pernod, ice and water). Strain in contents of the shaker.
