IWC has launched a Big Ingenieur edition that pays homage to the legendary footballer, Zinédine Zidane.
Limited to a production run of 500 watches, Zidane has been personally involved in the timepiece's design. It features a dark brown dial and the Arabic number of 10 – a reference to his heritage as well as the football shirt he wore for the French national team.
His name is engraved on the winding rotor (visible through the transparent sapphire-glass back) while the 27 and 45 are highlighted in red; a little nod to the times he scored during the 1998 World Cup final when he helped France to their historic win.
Fitted with a 51113 calibre movement, a large spring barrel supplied with energy from the Pellaton automatic winding system offers a seven-day power reserve.
