Big in London, but you be the judge

Kiwis consume an equivalent of 88 million bottles of imported beer each year.  Put end-to-end that’s enough bottles to reach London from Christchurch or more than 19,000 kilometres.

Finally Monteith’s New Zealand Lager is here to change that.

Naturally brewed without additives or preservatives, its then cold filtered to deliver the clean, crisp taste of fresh New Zealand lager.  It’s all New Zealand ingredients (water, barley & hops) and even the bottle is made here.

Originally brewed for the export market, it launched in London on Waitangi Day 2007 and the first shipment sold out in one month. It was then judged number one in The International Beer Challenge for the ‘‘Lager 4.3%-5.5% ABV category”. The judges also named the bottle “the most stylish bottle in the competition.”

Beating the best in the world was all the convincing Monteith’s needed to make sure Kiwi premium beer drinkers could enjoy Monteith’s New Zealand Lager at home and judge it for themselves.  It is available from supermarkets, selected liquor stores and premium bars across the country.

“Our brewers believed for some time that using Monteith’s 140 year brewing expertise they could create a New Zealand lager that would take on the Germans and others at their own game,” says Monteith’s Malcolm Everts. “We’ve succeeded offshore and now its time for New Zealanders to be the judge.”

“From now on, we will only export what we can’t drink at home,” says Everts.

Monteith’s
New Zealand Lager is available at supermarkets, selected liquor outlets and premium bars from March 3. RRP for 12-pack $24.99.
